CABLE 2023 Big Idea Workshop

CABLE 2023 Big Idea 2-Day Hybrid Workshop

November 14-15, 2023

The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Office (AMMTO) hosted its third annual workshop on Conductivity-enhanced materials for Affordable, Breakthrough, Leapfrog, Electric and thermal applications (CABLE) Initiative.

The two-day hybrid workshop brought together stakeholders and CABLE performers. The diverse set of stakeholders included those in academia, industry, and government sectors. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the broad spectrum of activities associated with the CABLE initiative and provide valuable feedback on strategy for ongoing and future initiatives. Topics covered included Pilot deployment, Smart manufacturing, Electrical conductors, Thermal conductors, and Superconductors. The event also enabled networking on research and development by both new and existing members of the CABLE ecosystem.

AMMTO’s goals for this workshop were to:

  • Inform stakeholders of continuing and newly inaugurated efforts within the CABLE ecosystem.
  • Present enhanced conductivity materials initiatives that are being spearheaded by other DOE agencies.
  • Gain perspectives on trends, drivers, and challenges for next-generation conductivity-enhanced materials applications.
  • Enable across the board networking between CABLE Prize, FOA, and SBIR performers.
  • Understand investment and business and job opportunities on the horizon.
