The Fiscal Year 2022 CABLE SBIR/STTR program was focused on two subtopics each with an emphasis on materials characterization and theory/modeling/simulation. Subtopic a requested innovative research and development applications for metals with enhanced electrical conductivity. The second subtopic b solicited nonmetal materials with enhanced thermal conductivity. The awardees for Phase I of the Fiscal Year 2022 SBIR/STTR program are detailed in Table 4. The FY22 Phase II CABLE SBIR/STTR awardees are listed in Table 5.
Table 4. FY22 Phase I CABLE SBIR/STTR Awardees

In addition, on July 11, 2022, five of the 10 awardees from the FY21 CABLE SBIR Topic were announced (see Table 3) as having been selected for negotiations for Phase II awards. Reviewers who didn’t recommend proposals for Phase II noted that many of the CABLE materials were too low TRL to be ready for the mandated Phase II commercialization.
